Homecoming 2017
|
The first time I really tried my hand at video production was during this year's homecoming week. I wanted to lead the Cedar Post staff by example, so I left my comfort zone and made multimedia content to cover one of the busiest weeks of the year in a timely and entertaining fashion. Left are two of the three videos I produced during homecoming week. These two were produced the same day.
I shot the "Homecoming Game" video throughout the course of the first three quarters and edited it on my Mac on the sidelines during the fourth. It was posted on our social media accounts an hour after the game. The Homecoming Carnival video was shot and edited on my iPhone. I posted it to our social media platforms less than an hour after the carnival took place. Looking at them now, my homecoming videos have some glaring flaws, but they were perfect for Cedar Post social media at the time. After tackling homecoming week, I was immediately more confident in my video production capabilities. |

This year, I worked with Sam the Multimedia Editor to create a monthly video series recounting the Cedar Post's latest projects and the happenings of SHS. Here's the first episode of CPTV.

An Interview with Governor Butch Otter
|
After my adviser brought to my attention an upcoming government event featuring Gov. Butch Otter, I reached out to his press managers to arrange an interview. I recognized that the most interesting way to present the story to high school students would be a video. It was very exciting to interact with Gov. Otter and film at the event, especially because I was the youngest person there by at least twenty years. After posting the video a few hours after filming, I uploaded it to our Instagram and Twitter accounts, where we get the majority of our student traffic.

A Day in French IV: Conversation Day
|
Sandpoint High's most intimate language class is AP French IV. I wanted to spotlight the unique day-to-day activities of the group in a unique and engaging format and had the idea to film conversation day, a monthly activity in which French III and IV students speak only in French for a large segment of the class, and add subtitles. Formatting my subtitles properly and translating the dialogue was a unique challenge for me.
